Laura's Supper Club: An Intimate Dinner For Four, Inspired By Asian Flavours
Ideal entertaining for an introverted month
Welcome to our first supper club! This is exclusively for paid subscribers, and it’s where I’ll be curating menus that we can all make together as my way of gathering us around a table, at least in spirit. If you participate, it would be great if you’d share photos and comments of your experience here and on social media so we can compare notes. Don’t forget to hashtag #laurassupperclub and #lauracalder.substack.com so that anyone who wants to join the party next time will know where to find us.
I don’t know about you, but on the heels of the holidays, I’m not feeling up for a crowd quite yet. Besides, my virtuous resolutions are still too fresh in my head to be craving an elaborate feast. What I’m in the mood for right now is light, healthy food shared with our most intimate friends, so that’s what this month’s supper club is all about. The menu is inspired by Asian flavours, but still very much Western in structure. It may feel a bit adventurous, because you’ll need to track down a few Asian ingredients, but it’s accessible, too, because the recipes are easy. Note that you can serve the whole meal with green tea instead of wine if you’re so inclined this month. On that note, tie on an apron and call a few close friends. Let’s have ourselves a snug and salubrious soirée!
Please note: Because of the expense of doing multiple tests for Laura’s Supper Club menus, which I do, this feature is reserved for paid subscribers, with gratitude. Please consider upgrading your subscription if you’d like to support this work and take part. If you’re already a paid subscriber, thank you, and enjoy!
